For the first time, the Supreme Student Council was entrusted in organizing a major event in this years’ “All in One: Full Force at 44” SSC-R de Cavite’s foundation days. The cultural night became the seed bed for the different competing colleges to display not only their talents in group dancing but a formidable unity that could bring about the best performance of their respective colleges.
The College of Business Administration failed to defend their title and succumb to second place. As last years’ second placer, the College of Arts and Sciences ruled in this field of performed art. The High School Department was a group to beat for the third place, in fact, the High School Department’s performance wowed the judges who remarked, “Akala namin college students din kayo sa tindi ng hataw nyo!’ The judges for the competition were Mr. Darby Dizon, Mr. Lyndon Abuan and Mr. Jonathan Sta. Ana, all are choreographers and enthusiast of the performing arts. This year’s cultural night was billed SAYAWIT 2010. The theme of the event was from the successful T.V. talent show, SHOWTIME!, at ABS-CBN. The Sayaw part of the program was provided by six competing groups namely: College of Engineering, Computer Science Department, College of Arts and Sciences, College of Business Administration, College of Nursing and the High School Department. While, the Awit part was provided by the Grade School and High School Department students namely: the Macalindong sisters (who rendered a duet for the doxology), while Tom Toledo, Anne Carmeline and Alessandra Mine regaled the audience with love songs fit for the occasion. The sure-fire-hit surprise of the evening was the dance performance from the faculty members of the High School Department. Ms. Jocelyn Del Rosario, Mr. Anthony Ponserada, Mrs. Juliet Ricasata, Mr. Alvin Ignao, Ms. Jenny May Bernal and Mr. Ronald Balderosa brought down the house as the high school crowd cheered on from the beginning until the end of the performance. The Teatro Baile was at their usual best in all their performances that earned the admiration of all the three judges who commented on the fluidity, grace and professionalism in the Teatro Baile’s choreography. But the show stopper was no other than the three emcees who are by themselves “The Show” Mr. Ryan Columna, Ms. Phobie Benitez and Mr. Laymar Toliba did make the audience a part of the entire program by their antics. It may have been the first time for the Supreme Student Council, they may have had shortness of hands, there may have difficulties in motivating everyone to participate, but in the end, they made it and made the night for everyone truly worth while. BRAVO SSC! BRAVO BASTE! |
