Cavite holds Recoletos 400 Closing Activities
Bacoor City, CAVITE--The closing activities of the OAR 400 in this Province
was held last August 19, 2017 at the St. Michael the Archangel Parish (SMAP), Bacoor
City, Cavite with the theme: OAR 400: “400 years of Continuing Presence of the Recollects
in Cavite.”
More than 50 vehicles registered and participated in the motorcade, which started
6:00AM from San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite Cañacao Campus to Eternity
Memorial Garden in Bacoor. An opening liturgy led by Rev. Fr. Samuel L. Eyas, OAR,
VP Religious Affairs of SSC-RdC marked the start of the festive karakol.
The street of Gen. Evangelista was enlivened by the karakol after the motorcade.
The whole Sebastinian Community and the Parishioners of St. Michael the Archangel
joyfully danced showing their devotion to St Ezekiel Moreno and love for God. Street
watchers joined in as the parade move its way towards St. Michael the Archangel Parish.
Most Rev. Reynaldo G. Evangelista, D.D., Bishop of Imus presided the Eucharistic
Celebration held after the karakol. Concelebrants were the Diocesan and Recollect
Priests, and His Excellency Most. Rev. Manuel C. Sobreviñas, D.D., Bishop-Emeritus
of Imus. “I hope that the presence of the Recollects does not end here, I know that
the Recollects’ presence will be continuously felt here in Cavite” said Most Rev.
Evangelista. Rev. Fr. Emilio A. Quilatan, OAR, RST Dean, explained why Bacoor City
was the best venue to conclude the celebration. But for Rev. Fr. Oliver Genuino,
Parish Priest of (SMAP) “I am being followed by St. Ezekiel Moreno, when the celebration
kicked-off in 2015 at St. Mary Magdalene Parish in Amadeo, I was the Parish Priest
there. Now, the closing was held here where I am the Parish Priest again. Maybe St.
Ezekiel wants me to do something,” said Fr. Genuino. The mass was graced by the presence
of Mr. Ramon Moreno, one of the descendants of St. Ezekiel Moreno and Hon. Sen. Cynthia
Villar who built the Santuario de San Ezekiel Moreno in Las Piñas, together with
the Villar family.
Rev. Fr. Cristituto A. Palomar, OAR, SSC-RdC President, acknowledged all
the people involved in the celebration while Rev. Fr. Dionisio Q. Selma, OAR, Prior
Provincial of the Province of St. Ezekiel Moreno officially declared the closing
of the celebration.
