HISTORY

San Sebastian College – Recoletos de Cavite was founded in 1966. Starting with a small building, the Recollect Father opened its school doors to 281 High School and College students.

Because of the rapid increase in the number of enrollees and the growing need for more space, classrooms, offices and facilities, more and more buildings were constructed in 1977, 1995 and the year 2000.

In 2001, the Recoletos fenced the future Cañacao Campus of the High School and Grade School Departments, at Bo. Rosario, San Roque, Cavite City. Cañacao Campus opened its school doors to 269 Nursery to Grade IV pupils in June, 2006.

Indeed, SSC-R has grown though the years. With the help of the Almighty, the Recollect Father, together with the administrators, faculty and staff exert their best towards the realization of the school’s mission and vision.

PHILOSOPHY OF THE GRADE SCHOOL PROGRAM

The Preschool and Grade School Program nurtures the continuing growth of each learner’s concept and understanding of himself, the world and his relationship with God, his Creator.

The Program views the child as unique, with an individual pattern and timing of growth. Curriculum and instruction are responsive to individual differences in ability and interests. Children move at their own pace in acquiring important skills.

The Program recognizes that play is an essential part of learning. It is the fundamental and most natural learners’ activity. Because of the learners’ inner drive to explore and discover, they learn.

The Program views evaluation and assessment as integral components of the teaching-learning process. They support children’s learning and aids teachers in making appropriate educational decisions.

The Program recognizes the school’s responsibilities in the nurturing and formation of each learner. Varied activities that will enhance learner’s emotional and spiritual well-being are undertaken.

The Program recognizes home and school as partners in education. The parents active involvement in the total formation of their children through their adherence to the philosophy and objectives of the institution and attendance to school assemblies, conferences and activities are of utmost significance. Constant communication is provided to ensure learners’ success and joy in the learning process, thus ensuring their total development – emotionally, physically, mentally and spiritually.
