The closing ceremonies of the International Year of Educational Apostolate (IYEA) on September 2-3, 2016 was held at San Sebastian College-Recoletos, Manila (SSC-RM) with the theme “Caritas et Scientia: Educating the Mind and the Heart.” The 2-day celebration was participated in by religious and lay administrators, faculty members, staff, and student representatives from University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R), University of Negros Occidental-Recoletos (UNO-R), Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos (CST-R), Colegio San Nicolas de Tolentino-Recoletos (CSNT-R), San Pedro Academy (SPA), San Pedro Academy-Recoletos (SPA-R), San Sebastian College-Recoletos Canlubang (SSC-RC) San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite (SSC-RdC) and San Sebastian College-Recoletos Manila (SSC-RM).

A Eucharistic Celebration presided by Rev. Fr. Dionisio Q. Selma, OAR, Prior Provinicial held at the San Sebastian Basilica in Manila ushered in the celebration. Exhibits, showcasing the culture and history of the respective Recoleto schools were displayed at the SSC-RM lobby.

Rev. Fr. Nemesio D. Tolentin, OAR, SSC-RM President, gave the welcome remarks while Rev. Fr. Cristituto A. Palomar, OAR, SSC-RdC President, gave the rationale of the celebration at the opening ceremonies held at the Bulwagang Diego Cera in SSC-RM. Audio Visual Presentation (AVP) greetings from Rev. Fr. Miguel Miro Miro, OAR, Prior General, Rev. Fr. Jose Maria Sanchez, OAR, General Counselor on Education, and Rev. Fr. Julius M. Marcos, OAR, REAP President were also shown during the program. Symposia on: (1) History of the Recoletos Education in the Philippines and its contribution to the Philippine Society presented by Rev. Fr. Emilio A. Quilatan, OAR, Dean of the Recoletos School of Theology, (2) Experiences, Challenges and Responses of Recollect Education presented by Dr. Carlos Eduardo I. Legaspi Jr., Director of Student Affairs and Public Relations Officer of UNO-R, and Mrs. Cristina M. Aliwalas, Basic Education Principal of SSC-RdC were held after the program.

The delegates enjoyed a festive lunch dubbed as Pistang Sebastino at the lobby and other designated area around SSC-RM Campus. Filipino native games were played during the Palarong Pinoy at the quadrangle which was participated in by the students and guests.

In the afternoon, a mini talk show hosted by Miss Meliisa Puti, Mr. Albert Danan, Miss Camille Icasiano, and Mr. Michael Franz T. Ang was held at the Bulwagang Diego Cera. Students, employees, and alumnus of different schools were interviewed regarding their insights and experiences about the Recoletos Education. A cultural presentation followed the talk show where participating schools performed native and modern production numbers that concluded the celebration.  

Provincial delegates enjoyed a heritage tour on September 3, 2016. Among their destinations were St. Joseph Parish Church, Santuario De San Ezekiel Moreno in Las Piñas, and Fort San Felipe and Aguinaldo Shrine in Cavite.
