The College Faculty Club (CFC) of the San Sebastian College-Recoletos de Cavite (SSC-RdC)
held its Annual General Assembly and Election of Officers on July 24, 2014 at the
Audio-Visual Room 2, Saint Joseph Building, SSC-RdC Main Campus.
Immediately following the singing of the Philippine National Anthem and the opening
prayer, Dr. Caroline Bulay, the incumbent Vice-President of the CFC, opened the program
with a speech delivered in impeccable Filipino, to serve as a reminder that as Filipinos,
the faculty must not alienate themselves from their own language, and in anticipation
of the Buwan ng Wika, which will be celebrated next week.
The new members of the CFC were introduced by Dean Rosalita Samoy for the College
of Accountancy, Business Administration, and Hospitality Management (CABAHM); Miss
Jamelie Norris for the College of Arts, Sciences and Nursing (CASN); Mr. Virgilio
Doza for the College of Engineering, Computer Studies and Technology (CECST); and,
Mrs. Edlyn Mauricio for the Academic Non-Teaching Faculty (ANTF). The new members
were welcomed with hopefulness that they will give their best, learn to love the
institution, and serve in the Sebastinian community for a long time.
Rev. Fr. Albert A. Pellazar, OAR, Vice-President for Academics and Vice-President
for Administration, gave a very inspiring message for all the attendees to learn
from and ponder upon. He conveyed hope that all the teachers of the institution will
strive harder to put the students first, at all times; and to continue improving,
because learning is unending.
The first part of the activity contained the reports of the Treasurer and the President.
The financial status of the club was presented by Mrs. Antonette Daluz, the CFC
Treasurer in office, followed by the SOFCA (State of the Faculty Club Address) of
Mrs. Priscilla Mendoza, the incumbent CFC President. The highlight of the CFC President’s
address was the club’s year-end activity, wherein the members were able to visit
to the Bicol Region, particularly in the provinces of Camarines Norte, where the
members enjoyed their “beach” and “sing-along” time, and send-off party for Mrs.
Araceli Yap; Camarines Sur, where the CFC was able to hear mass at the Church of
the Nuestra Señora de Peñafrancia; and, Albay where the attendees were able to view
the magnificent and world-famous Mayon Volcano. Her suggestion that the next tour
be made outside the Philippines (perhaps to Singapore and Thailand), or to the majestic
islands of Batanes, was met with enthusiasm by the CFC members. Both the reports
of the Treasurer and President were accepted by the body as presented, on account
of the credibility of Mrs. Daluz (as well as of the former CFC Treasurer, Mrs. Yap)
and of Mrs. Mendoza.
The second part of the gathering featured the election of the new set of officers
for Academic Year 2014-2015, which was facilitated by Mrs. Maria Soledad Tubay and
Miss Melissa Puti, whom Sebastinians fondly refer to as the dynamic duo. The same
set of CFC officers in Academic Year 2013-2014 were reelected to hold the top six
posts for AY 2014-2015. Mr. Michael Franz Ang, who was formerly appointed as the
Assistant Secretary (AY 2013-2014), was voted for Public Relations Officer (PRO)
for AY 2014-2015). New officers were elected to serve as the Escort, Muse and Peace
Officers of the club.
